How Pinnacle Group handles personal information on this website, and the rights you have over that information wherever you are reading from.
This website is owned and operated by Pinnacle Group ("we", "us", "our"), a South African supplier of plastics, hardware and tools, trading from 4 York Place, New Germany, Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal 4032, South Africa.
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA") we are the responsible party for the personal information described here. Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") we are the controller. Both terms mean the same thing: we decide what personal information is collected through this website and what happens to it.
Questions about this policy, or about any personal information we hold, go to our Information Officer at hadee@univission.co.za.
This policy covers this website and the enquiries that reach us through it, by email, telephone or WhatsApp. It applies to everyone who visits, wherever you are in the world.
It does not cover any other website you reach from here, including our suppliers' and partners' own websites, which run their own policies.
If you email us, phone us or message us about a product, a price or an order, we receive whatever you choose to send. That is usually your name, your company name, your email address or phone number, and the content of your message. If we go on to do business together, we also hold the ordinary records of that trade, such as delivery addresses, order details and invoices.
You decide what to send us. Please do not send us information we have not asked for and do not need, in particular financial account details, identity numbers or health information.
Like every website, this one is delivered by a web server, and web servers keep access logs. Our hosting provider records technical details of each request: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and the browser and operating system reported by your device.
These logs exist to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to detect abuse such as attacks or scraping. We do not use them to build a profile of you, and we do not try to identify you from them.
Every file this website needs, including its typeface, is served from this site's own domain. Opening a page contacts no other company's servers, so no third party receives your IP address or any other information about your visit.
The typeface is Manrope, used under the SIL Open Font License and hosted here. It was previously loaded from Google Fonts, which meant Google received your IP address on every page view; that is no longer the case.
So that there is no doubt, on this website we do not:
If any of this changes, we will update this policy first, and where the law requires your consent we will ask for it before the change goes live.
We use personal information to answer your enquiry, to quote, to supply and deliver goods, to keep the accounting and tax records the law requires us to keep, to keep this website secure and working, and to deal with disputes or legal claims if they arise.
Where the GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and performing that contract, when you enquire or order; our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving our business, when we keep server logs and ordinary business correspondence; compliance with a legal obligation, when we retain financial records; and your consent, where we ask for it. You can withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
Where POPIA applies, we process personal information because it is necessary to conclude or perform a contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests, and otherwise with your consent.
This website sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. We do not use local storage, session storage, web beacons, fingerprinting or any similar technology.
Your browser may still receive cookies from a third party you visit through a link on this site, which is outside our control.
We share personal information only where it is needed to run the business, and only with:
If our business is ever sold or restructured, customer records may pass to the buyer as part of that transaction. We do not sell personal information as a product, and we do not give it to data brokers or advertisers.
We are based in South Africa, so if you contact us from elsewhere your information will be handled in South Africa. Some of the providers listed above operate servers in other countries including the United States, so limited technical data may be processed outside your country.
Where personal information leaves South Africa, POPIA requires the recipient to be bound by comparable protection, and we rely on our providers' contractual terms for that. Where information leaves the EU or the UK, our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Enquiries that do not turn into business are kept only as long as they are useful, and are deleted on request. Records of actual transactions are kept for as long as South African tax and company law requires us to keep them, which is generally five years from the end of the relevant financial period. Server access logs are kept for the short retention period set by our hosting provider, typically weeks rather than months.
When information is no longer needed and no law requires us to keep it, we delete it or destroy it securely.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The website itself holds no personal information: it is a set of static pages with no database behind it, which removes an entire class of risk. Enquiry records are kept in access-controlled email and business systems.
No website, email system or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information does happen, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
Email hadee@univission.co.za and tell us what you want. We may need to confirm who you are before we act, so that we do not hand your information to somebody else. There is no charge, unless a request is repetitive or excessive, and we will answer as quickly as we can and within the time limit set by the law that applies to you.
If you are in South Africa and you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), whose current contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za. POPIA also gives you the right to object to processing and to institute civil proceedings, and the prescribed request forms are on that same website.
The GDPR and the UK GDPR give you these additional rights: access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and the right not to be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We do not carry out any such automated decision-making.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority, or with the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom. We would ask you to raise it with us first, so that we can put it right.
We are not established in the EU or the UK and we do not offer goods or services to people there through this website, so in most cases the GDPR will not apply to your visit. We set these rights out anyway, and we will honour them if you ask.
Several US states, including California, Virginia, Colorado and Connecticut, give residents the right to know what personal information a business has collected, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or of targeted advertising.
We do not sell or share personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and we do not offer financial incentives in exchange for it. In the last twelve months we have not sold or shared any personal information. To exercise any of the rights above, email us using the address below. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
This is a trade website aimed at businesses and adult buyers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
This site links to other websites, including univission.co.za and the website of the agency that built this one. We are not responsible for their content or for how they handle personal information. Read their policies before you give them anything.
We may update this policy when the site changes or when the law does. The date at the top of the page always shows the current version, and the version on this page is the one that applies. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear on the site.
For anything in this policy, including any request about your personal information, please contact our Information Officer:
